US base oils exports to Mexico rose to a record high in March as producers moved to clear a swathe of surplus supplies.Exports of 1.15mn bl (161,600t) in March rose from 698,430bl in February and by 141pc from the previous year, government data showed.The volume outpaced typical shipments of less than 450,000 bl/month over the past year and far exceeded Mexico’s requirements to cover domestic lubricants demand.Some surplus supplies from the US previously ended up in Mexico’s fuel-extender market.The shipments accounted for some 44pc of the US’ total exports in March.
