US base oils supply fell to a three-month low in September amid a sharp dip in paraffinic base oils output and lower imports.Total base oils output of 4.47mn bl (630,000t) in September fell from 4.78mn bl the previous month and by 4pc from year-earlier levels, EIA data showed.Paraffinic base oils output of 3.69mn bl in September fell from 4.17mn bl in August and by a steeper 7pc from year-earlier levels.Output fell because of a drop in production in the Texas Gulf coast district to 1.14mn bl.The volume fell from 1.64mn bl the previous month to the lowest since October 2022.Output fell at that time last year because of scheduled plant maintenance work.The size of the fall in output in September similarly pointed to factors such as scheduled or unplanned maintenance work that affected production levels.Lower base oils output in September coincided with a fall in US base oils imports to a ten-month low.Total supply, or domestic production and imports combined, came to 5.64mn bl in September.The volume fell from 5.96mn bl the previous month and for the fourth time in five months from year-earlier levels.Total supply of 52.91mn bl in the first nine months of the year fell by 7pc from 56.88mn bl during the same period last year to a three-year low..US’ Sept base oils exports rise
