Moove Brazil’s largest Oct lube supplier

ICONIC Lubricants is second largest

Brazilian lubricants producer and distributor Moove was the country’s largest lubricants supplier in October for the first time in at least four years amid a surge in its sales of passenger car engine oils.

Moove accounted for more than 23pc of Brazil’s lube sales in October, according to IBP. The share rose from less than 20pc the previous month to the highest in more than four years.

Before October, Moove’s highest position in the last two years had been in July, when it was Brazil’s second-largest lube supplier.

Its share of Brazil’s lube consumption surged in October as it boosted its sales of passenger car engine oils (PCMO) by 20pc from the previous month to the highest since March.

Brazil’s lube sales fell by 2pc in October to 86,400mᶟ (76,530t).

The country's consumption of PCMO fell more slowly than industrial oils and heavy-duty engine oils.

The smaller drop in Brazil’s total PCMO sales magnified the impact of Moove’s higher share of those sales.

Moove, which is part of Cosan Group, produces and distributes lubricants under the Mobil and Comma brands throughout South America and the US.

ICONIC Lubricants was Brazil’s second-largest lube supplier in October with a share of more than 22pc of total sales. It had been the country’s largest supplier in seven of the previous eight months.

Its share fell from more than 27pc of Brazil’s September lube demand amid a drop in sales of industrial and automobile lubricants.

Vibra Energia was Brazil’s third-largest lube supplier in October with a share of more than 21pc of the total volume.

The share was up from less than 20pc in September as its sales and share of the country’s industrial oils surged.

The rise in sales contrasted with a sharp drop in Brazil’s total consumption of industrial oils in October.
