Electric and hybrid vehicles’ share of Brazil’s total light vehicle sales rose to the highest so far in September, mostly at the expense of diesel-powered vehicles.
Electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for 3.5pc of total light vehicle sales of 180,840 in September, according to Brazil’s automaker association Anfavea.
The share was up from 2.2pc in August and a 1.8pc share in 2021.
Diesel-powered vehicles accounted for 11.4pc of sales in September, up from a 9.9pc share the previous month. They accounted for 13.4pc of light vehicle sales in 2021.
Brazil’s lube demand has mostly fallen throughout this year. Consumption of heavy-duty engine oils has fallen in 15 of the last 16 months to September.
